Hello and Welcome to cfrealmadrid.com. Today we will do the Match Review of the Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid that was played on Matchday 21. Real Madrid came on the top of the table following the narrow victory against Valladolid in a away game. Real Madrid were playing without their regular fullback, Carvajal and his replacement, Nacho Fernandez who stepped up late in the second half to secure 3 crucial points for Real Madrid and became no.1.
There was a certain nervousness amongst Madridistas. During previous games this season, our team failed to take advantage of similar opportunities and slipped up. The Match seemed possibility heading to a draw but Nacho’s goal lately turned the tables for Real Madrid. Let’s have a detailed Match Review of Valladolid vs Real Madrid as follows.
Real Valladolid-Match Review:
Real Madrid came away with the three points, despite we were not at our attacking best but beat Real Valladolid 1-0. We absolutely dominated possession throughout the match. Valladolid as a team were not effective in breaking down the opposing midfield. However, they did well to hold and protect the backline for much of the game. Madrid are playing high on the pitch. The hosts offered precious little opportunities for us going forward.
In the 78th minute, Nacho dipping header puts Madrid in the lead. Later, Guardiola managed to put the ball past Courtois but it would be wiped off for offside . With three minutes remaining, it looked like a point-saving goal on that occasion. The loss saw Valladolid slip to 16th, while Zidane’s side jump Barcelona and take sole possession of first spot in the league table.
Starting Line-up:
Goalkeeper:
Courtois started as a goalie against Valladolid. Although, He did not have a single save in the game. The Belgian helped his backline and kept another clean sheet. He tipped over the net from a cross on one occasion in the game. Moreover, Courtois had 2 quality clearances against Valladolid.
Fullbacks:
On the right flank, Nacho came in the side as a deputy of Carvajal in his absence. The Spanish defender scored his goal which helped Madrid in winning. He was the man of the match. Nacho also sorted out Real Madrid’s right back crises as Odriozola went on the loan.
In the left back position, Mendy impressed us defensively but need more efforts in the field offensively. He had four tackles along side Nacho who also have four. His two clearances against Valladolid helped Madrid to win the game foe us.
Centre Backs:
Varane and Ramos are the defensive pairing in the centre of the half for Real Madrid. Varane had been excellent in advance positions. On the other hand, Sergio Ramos has most number of aerial duels along Casemiro. Varane almost locked the Valladolid in their half. On the other hand, Ramos locked the Sergi Guardiola totally. Varane helped Madrid to retain the possession again on many occasions while Ramos helped backline to remain in the shape and positioning.
Midfielders:
Madrid started with 4 midfielders in the match. In the midfield, Casemiro was as consistent like his every match. His opening goal did not affect the VAR because he was merely offside. Coming to the Modric, he looked off colour to me. The Croatian suffers physicality from the opposition on few occasions. He also lost his 3 aerial duels in the match.
Now talking about German Sniper, Toni Kroos crosses in the match was excellent. The midfielder also produced high quality key passes. He had one assist to Nacho’s goal in the game. Kroos almost assisted the offside goal of Casemiro which was not given. Isco had one of his better games against Valladolid. The Spanish completed 4 dribbles and combined well with his teammates. Madrid struggled with their deep passes completions against the opposition despite having Isco in the midfield.
Forwards:
Rodrygo grew into the game. He moved from left to right on the flanks. The Brazilian created havoc for the Valladolid defenders. On the other hand, Benzema had a quiet game last night. His cold streaks continued. He has yet to find his rhythm. He had not scored since the Valencia game.
Bench:
From the bench, Lucas Vazquez came on the field to wider the width of the attacking line but it could change any thing. Valverde came on 87th minute of the match and looked anxious but the time was too fast running down. Luka Jovic came in the 92th minute for attacking booster in the last minute.
Verdict:
Madrid is currently on the top of the La Liga throne. We have to win every game and maintain the position. Madrid is up against Real Zaragoza this midweek and against Atletico Madrid in the weekend.
