Hello and welcome to cfrealmadrid.com. Today our topic of discussion is the Match Preview of Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid that is going to be take placed at the Matchday 21. After the Copa Del Rey battle with Unionistas in Salamanca, Los Blancos is visiting Valladolid for the away match. As, Real is currently equal in points with Barcelona on the league table. Interestingly, Barcelona slipped up in title chase and got a defeat in their match against Valencia. So, there is huge opportunity for Real Madrid to take the lead at a very important stage of the season. We must capitalise on this slip-up from Barcelona.
In our last 5 outings against Valladolid, we only managed to win 3 games. The other 2 matches resulted in a draw. We currently have 43 points in the league table and Valladolid stand on 15th spot with 22 points. Coming to the Match facts, Real Valladolid are winless in their last 10 La Liga games against Real Madrid (D2 L8). Their win at home was in November 2008 under José Luis Mendilíbar (1-0).
Moreover, Real Madrid have conceded at least one goal in each of their last 10 La Liga trips to Real Valladolid. It is our longest run failing to keep a clean sheet against them in the competition. Furthermore, Real Madrid have only lost one of their 10 away La Liga games this season (W5 D4), keeping a clean sheet in five of the last eight. Let’s check out the Match Preview of Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid in details as follows.
Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid-Match Preview:
Real Madrid will go into the match as a favourite but we will have a pressure to come on no.1 spot in La Liga. Valladolid is struggling to maintain top flight status. After the take over of Ronaldo Nazario as a 51% shareholder on the club, Valladolid are keen to avoid a drop to Segunda because they finished 16th last season. So, they would not like to repeat the same. They will try to get some points from the match.
The thing which we need to do is to do simple things on the field. There is no need to press any panic button. Although Real Madrid performance against Unionistas was not up to the mark but it happens in the football. Sergio Ramos and other seniors came into the squad after a rest . So they will make their impact in the game. We are strong among the two teams and will try to get three points from the match.
The 2019-20 season La Liga clash between Valladolid vs Real Madrid will be played at Jose Zorrilla Stadium(Valladolid) on Sunday 26 January 2020, with a 21:00 C.E.T start.
Zidane has announced a squad list of 19 players to head to Valladolid for away clash in La Liga. These players are:
- Goalkeepers: Courtois, Areola, Altube.
- Defenders: Militao, Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, and Mendy.
- Midfielders: Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Valverde, James, and Isco.
- Forwards: Benzema, Vazquez, Jovic, and Rodrygo.
(4-3-3) : Courtois-Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Mendy-Casemiro, Kroos, Modric-Vazquez, Benzema, Rodrygo.
Thibaut Courtois is going to the most likely goalkeeper to start things for us. The Belgian was given a much-needed rest against Unionistas and will hopefully start fresh. He already found his best form during the past few months at the club. He should take a clean sheet from this game.
Overall Madrid defense is superb this season. We have only conceded 13 goals in 20 games played in LaLiga this season, our lowest figure at this stage in the top-flight since 1987/88. In the centre backs role, Sergio Ramos and Varane will most probably start the game. Ramos and Varane is coming back to the team after missing Copa Del Rey clash.
In the full backs position, Ferland Mendy will return to the starting eleven in this match on left flank. He rested in the midweek cup tie. It seems as though Mendy has edged out Marcelo for the starting spot under Zidane. In the right back position, Carvajal is suspended. So, either Nacho or Militao will perform this role. Zidane has also used Lucas in this role in previous seasons. It will interesting to see who will take this role but I will prefer Nacho here.
The minor concern for me is that Casemiro wasn’t rested against Unionistas. However, the Brazilian defensive midfielder will be starter on Sunday night. He has arguably been Real Madrid’s most essential and used player this season. Zidane calls him up every time when he is in the squad. In front of Casemiro, we will see Toni Kroos coming back to the line-up after resting in the last match. With him, there will be either Valverde or Luka Modric in the line-up.
Selecting between above two mentioned players is a coin toss these days in Real Madrid. Although, Modric was rested for the Copa del Rey while even though Valverde started the match. So Luka should be played here and Valverde should start against Zaragoza in the midweek Copa Del Rey. James and Isco is also available for this match. From both of these, Isco will enjoy some minutes coming from the bench as James started over Isco in the midweek game last time.
I think that Brahim Diaz has earned the right to start this match. He almost scored two goals in Copa Del Rey. Brahim is energetic young lad and got the potential to make a name for himself and the club. However, Zidane has his own selection plan. He will play Lucas Vazquez on the right flank.
In the centre, Karim Benzema will play. Karim Benzema was looking off color in the last game and yet to find his rhythm after the injury. However, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has been involved in eight goals in his eight La Liga games against Real Valladolid (five goals and three assists), including three goals and one assist in his last two games against them in the competition. So his role will be very crucial.
Rodrygo will start on the left wing against Valladolid. The young Brazilian has a lot to learn. He has not been himself in recent weeks. However, we have seen what he is capable of . Rodrygo is able to create moments of magic and charm out of nothing. We hope that he will perform.
I predict that we are going to win this encounter by 1 to 2 goals. Anyway, this is it for the Match Preview of Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid. I hope you like our Match Preview.
