Welcome to cfrealmadrid.com. Today we are here with the Match Review of Real Madrid vs Real Betis that was played on the Matchday 12 in La Liga Santander 2019-20. The match resulted in a draw with a 0-0 scoreline. It’s a huge disappointment for not getting 3 points against a struggling Betis site and too in our home. We had a perfect opportunity to claim the top spot on La Liga Table after Barcelona’s loss against Levante. However, we didn’t capitalize on that chance. If that’s how we are going to play for the rest of the season, we should better forget about winning titles.
People are talking about Zidane, his transfers, and stubborn policy to play players on their names rather than their form. The fans are clearly annoyed with this approach. The reluctance of Zidane to use Bale and giving opportunities to James is getting on the nerves of the fans. Fortune is also not favoring Los Blancos these days. Ref denied a clear penalty and VAR ruled out a goal because of the offside. So, without any delay, let’s start out Match Review of Real Madrid vs Real Betis.
Real Madrid vs Real Betis-Match Review:
The match resulted in a draw. Despite having 22 shots, the match ended as a goalless draw. Real Betis played the match with a compact defensive approach. The Betis defenders kept the lines tight and played the match with 5 defenders. The Betis Goalkeeper Robles made a number of spectacular stops and deserved a clean sheet for his efforts. It’s the story of this season, we struggle to put the ball in the net whenever we play against a back-5.
Additionally, it seemed as if Eden Hazard was invisible on the pitch on some occasions. He did score a goal but VAR denied it because of the off-side. Karim Benzema tried his best to get a goal in the opposition box with his brilliant runs. However, it all went in vain. The Referee also denied us a clear penalty. We could have won the game if that penalty was given. This draw has more to with our bad luck rather than our poor display. However, there one thing that I would like to highlight as a massive mistake from Zidane and that is not starting Valverde ahead of Modric.
Thibaut Courtois was at no.1 spot against Real Madrid. He played the match and did a good job. He denied several shots and stayed firm in between the poles. One positive aspect of this game is to witness a dramatic improvement of Coutrois in form and positioning.
Sergio Ramos and Varane started in the heart of the defense. Varane was totally out of the game. He is having a bad patch for quite some time. Sergio Ramos had a good work rate and combined well with Casemiro against the Betis Strikers. Ferland Mendy started on the left flank and did a pretty good job in except making a few slips. Mendy missed a goalscoring chance as he lost his footing. He defended well but did not produce as many crosses as Zidane wanted. Carvajal was also struggling to make good crosses because of the additional defender in the backline.
The absence of Valverde in the starting XI haunted Real Madrid. Modric didn’t play up to his levels and Zidane should have replaced him with Valverde. Valverde plays a pivotal role in attacks and his pressing is really good which is why he would have improved things for Real Madrid. Kroos played brilliantly in the midfield. Kroos was the best player in the midfield. Casemiro filled the gaps and controlled the ball offensively.
Benzema, Hazard, and Rodrygo played in the attacking line for Real Madrid. Benzema played the match with bad fortune mixed with some bad technical decisions. Hazard completed many dribbles but vanished on the pitch after his disallowed goal. Rodrygo played on the right flank until the 65th minute and was replaced by his fellow Brazilian Vinicius Jr. Rodrygo is still learning and improving day by day. All he needs is time and I am sure he will turn out to be a vital player in our Attack. Vinicius was good in patches but could not help the team in breaking the deadlock.
With Barca going down against Levante and Atletico Madrid only managing to draw against Sevilla, we had a perfect opportunity to reclaim the number 1 spot in the League Table. However, we could not capitalize on our chance and here we are in the 2nd position only behind Barcelona due to goal difference. Well, guys, that was all for our Match Review of Real Madrid vs Real Betis. What are your thoughts on this draw? Kindly let us know in the comments section below. Until Next Time, Hala Madrid!
