Welcome to the cfrealmadrid.com. Today we are doing a Match Preview of Real Madrid vs Leganés. Leganés is in the last position on the points table with 5 points only. On the other hand, Real Madrid has 18 points in 9 matches and can come to the 2nd spot in the table after winning this match.
On paper, Real Madrid vs Leganés is a one-sided fixture with Madrid being the favorite to win the match. However, after seeing the match against Real Mallorca, we shouldn’t get our hopes high as anything can be expected from the unpredicted side of Real Madrid. The lack of attacking and finishing in the forward line, as well as the deficiency in goal scoring depicts the story of Real Madrid this season. Zidane has to do a lot of work with the players. With limited options in midfield and injury crises, Real Madrid have not been able to show their true potential until now.
Los Blancos will come into this match as fresh and energetic after the cancellation of El-Classico game and shifted in December. The players had almost a week to overcome shortcomings and regain their momentum, form, and energy. There are a lot of speculations about many players to go to other clubs in the winter transfer window but only the time will tell the true picture. So, without any delay, let’s start our Match Preview.

Expected Starting lineup:
I think Zidane will select a strong team who can comfortably dominate the game right from the start to the end. It’s because we have to send a message that we are still one of the best teams in Europe. We have to prove that our recent patch of poor performances was merely due to bad luck and in a matter of few games, we will be where we deserve to be.
Thibaut Courtois is expected to start the game against Leganés. With the recent performance in Champions League, Courtois has managed to build confidence in himself and in the ranks of Real Madrid. Zidane also backed Courtois in his recent poor form and convinced him to focus and concentrate.
Carvajal will play as Right Back. Carvajal has been very patchy throughout the season. Marcelo will take position on the Left side in the defense. Mendy is also in the squad and he can also be an option, however, I think Zidane will stick with Marcelo due to his attacking prowess. Moreover, we can expect the regular duo of Ramos and Varane in the heart of defense.
In the midfield, Real Madrid will use Kroos, Casemiro, and Modric despite Valverde in his primmest form since the start of the season. Isco will come and enjoy some minutes in the later stages of the match with Valverde.
Benzema, Lucas Vasquez, and Hazard will form our attacking trident. With the absence of Bale from the squad, the coach will use Vasquez. Rodrygo played on the right wing in the last match and showed a promising effort but Zidane will prefer Vasquez because of his defensive prowess. Jovic can also be an option in the no 9 position for the whites but it seems like he will find some minutes in the third quarter of the game.
We have had a poor month of football and I would love to end this month with a good result. I am expecting Real Madrid to Win the game with a 3-1 scoreline. I don’t expect to get a clean sheet simply because we have never been good at defending and our recent form clearly shows the flaws in our defense. We would have to outscore our opponents. Look at our rivals, FC Barcelona. They have already banged 5 goals in 3 games. We have to take that as positive criticism and improve ourselves.
