Welcome to cfrealmadrid.com. Sorry for the delay, I had a fever and could not write the Match Review in time. Anyways, We are here with the Match Review of Eibar vs Real Madrid. What a dominating victory away from home! The match went well for Los Blancos and Real Madrid won the match through a fast start. It seems like we have found our rhythm. One thing certain, Zidane’s expiry date is pushed further back after these results. Real Madrid is currently on the second spot in the La Liga table with 25 points with Barcelona topping the League Table.
We continued a winning journey with a quick start of goal scoring. We outclassed Eibar right from the kick-off and scored 3 goals in the first half. However, we could not maintain our dominance in the second half and Eibar tried to push us back. Up to this point, Real Madrid won a total of 9 matches in Laliga and Champions league. Real Madrid wrapped 4 out of these 9 matches in the first half. We scored 3 goals against Granada and went on to win with 3-2. Once again, we put 3 goals against Leganés in the first half and ended up winning the game with a 5-0 scoreline. Similarly, we made it 4-0 in the first half against Galatasaray in the Champions League game and won it with a 6-0 scoreline.
I wanted to highlight our first half dominance simply because I am concerned about our second-half performances. To be honest, our playing style has been so direct that we lack the control in our game which gives an opportunity for other teams to exploit us. Moreover, half of our goals are coming from penalties and set pieces. We have to improve our gameplay. So, without any delay, let’s start our Match Review of Eibar vs Real Madrid.
Eibar vs Real Madrid- Match Review:
Benzema opened the scoring for Los Blancos in the 17th minute thanks to a brilliant assist from Valverde. Just a couple minutes later, Hazard won a penalty and Sergio Ramos converted this penalty by sending the keeper on the wrong side. Hazard made a fantastic through ball to Vasquez in the box and the Eibar defender conceded a penalty in an attempt to stop the attack. This time Benzema took the responsibility of taking the penalty and converted into the net as calmly as you like.
Eibar put pressure in the second half but Real Madrid stood firm and managed to score the fourth goal thanks to an outside foot shot from Valverde. We have to credit Modric for the 4th goal as waited for the right time and space to place the ball in the feet of Valverde. 2 of our 4 goals were from the penalty spots. Personally, Hazard should have taken at least one of the two penalties to get his score tally going.
STARTING line up:
Goalkeepet:
The Belgian started the game and it seem like he has regained his lost form since the national call up in October. He managed to change his situation with the supporters. Courtois has managed to beat the Keylor Navas record of most number of minutes without conceding. He was very impressive at the night against Eibar and it seems like he has won the trust of the coach as well.
Defenders:
Dani Carvajal was playing his 250 game for Real Madrid. He is good in both the attack and defense. Zidane deployed Ferland Mendy as a Left Back. Ferland Mendy improved a lot from his previous match. Mendy is technically more equipped in defending as compared to Marcelo who loves to attack. At times, it seemed as if Mendy was playing as a midfielder simply because he was all over the pitch.
In the heart of defense, Sergio Ramos and Varane played this game. We mentioned in the match preview about the chance of Militao in the starting lineup but Zidane had other plans. Varane once again played well but the Sergio Ramos sigma always overshadows him. He scored a penalty and lifted the morale of the team from the back.
Midfielders:
Real Madrid rested Kroos against the Eibar and Zidane played veteran Modric, young Valverde and seasoned Casemiro in the midfield. Valverde provided an assist as well as scored his first goal for Real Madrid. It was yet another satisfying and mature performance from the youngster which demands more playing for him. Luka Modric played the match with full energy and compelled the supporter to rethink about his decline or age as he is at his best to challenge. Casemiro is an unleashed animal in the season alone. He has already played over 1000 minutes for Real Madrid this season. He played the second half firm and kept the lines tight between the backline and middle.
Forwards:
Eden Hazard started on the Left Wing against Eibar and I must say he is improving with every single game. His chemistry is improving with other teammates as well as he is getting used to our style of play. The Belgian seemed to very quick and smart in the match and to be honest I think he was one of our best performers. In the no.9 spot, Karima Benzema played and scored twice goals in quick succession. Many supporters did not understand the decision of playing Vasquez on the right flank. He was a little bit off in the game, however, everything went well as Spanish winger managed to win a penalty. Zidane also gave some minutes to Vinicius Jr and courtesy of the unavailability of Bale and James made way for Brahim Diaz into the team.
Best performers:
Benzema:
Benzema netted the ball twice and his overall performance was very well. Currently, Benzema is leading the race for the Pichichi award and with continuous performances like this, nobody is going to catch him this season. He was also involved in a lot of buildups and lead Real Madrid from the front like a leader. Ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema has taken the responsibility of our main goalscorer and he is fulfilling this responsibility as best as he can.
Hazard:
For me, Hazard was the best player against Eibar. Yes, it’s true he didn’t score a goal and couldn’t register a goal. However, his involvement in the game is much more than goals and assists. He won a penalty for Los Blancos and was also the source of generating our attacks.
Verdict:
Well, that was all for the Match Review of Eibar vs Real Madrid. Once again, I am sorry for the late update but as I have mentioned earlier, I was sick and couldn’t do much of the writing.
