Alaves vs Real Madrid-Match Review:
The match started with the high hopes of both the teams. After the draw in the first half, Sergio Ramos glanced a header in the goal from Kroos’s freekick to open the scoring for Real Madrid. Sergio Ramos conceded a penalty by foul on Joselu by his elbow. Lucas Perez converted penalty from 12 yards and the game was once again level with 1-1.
Carvajal then poked the home fans just 4 minutes later and Madrid lead by 2-1. Real Madrid held their nerves for the rest of the match despite the succession of corners from the Alaves. The match resulted in favor of Real Madrid with a 1-2 scoreline and they took 3 points to remain in contention of the domestic league.
Starting Lineup:
Goalkeeper:
Areola started ahead of Courtois as a rotation. The french loanee keeper had only one save in the match. He was unable to stop the penalty of Lucas Perez. However, his overall performance was satisfactory.
Defenders:
Marcelo carried the same momentum from PSG game, but this time he was not entertained by Eden Hazard. Gareth Bale played in place of Hazard. Dani Carvajal started on the Right Flank and played brilliantly. Carvajal scored a beautiful goal that allowed Madrid to gain 3 important points in the match. He was the best player of the match for me.
Militao and Sergio Ramos started the match in the heart of the defense. Varane was out of the squad which compelled Zidane to play Militao ahead of him. Eder Militao and Sergio Ramos were terrific at the back. We need similar performances from our defense if we want to finish as champions.
Midfielders:
Isco was completely alienated in the first half of the season. However, he has been getting some chances lately. Isco started the match against Alaves in place of injured Eden Hazard. He showed that he still has so much class and might be the player Real have missed in the attack.
Casemiro, Kroos, and Modric were the other midfielders. Kroos and Casemiro were brilliant in the match. Kroos assisted the first goal from a cross. Casemiro made 12 recoveries with the ball. Valverde came in at 80th minute to replace Luka Modric.
Forwards:
Bale and Karim Benzema started the game against Alaves. Gareth Bale started for Los Blancos for the first time since October and hit the post in the first half following smart play from Isco. He lost possession on a few occasions and did not look sharp. Zidane made changes and took off Bale for young Brazilian Rodrygo in hope of finding a winner.
The majority of Real fans were happy to see the introduction of Rodrygo and the end of Bale’s time on the pitch. The young Brazilian looked dangerous and was involved in the Carvajal goal that secured the win for Zidane.
Karim Benzema did look in full colors against Alaves. He didn’t get his name on the scoresheet. However, his passing and defensive work rate were impressive throughout the match. Benzema has been in fantastic form these days and we hope it stays like that.
Best Performance of the Match:
Dani Carvajal:
Dani Carvajal is without a doubt the best right back in Spain. His career has been a mix of highs and lows. In the 2019/20 season, he has the most assists for Madrid in La Liga along with Modric. Carvajal played one of his best knocks against Alaves and gained 3 crucial points for Real Madrid with a beautiful goal. He also made 7 ball recoveries and was literally on fire.
Verdict:
Real Madrid’s next fixture is against Espanyol as they look to maintain this title surge. That’s all from today’s Match Review of Alaves vs Real Madrid.
